What could be more heavenly than an engagement in Italy, a wedding on the south shores of Maui and an adventure through the beautiful and remote town of Hana? Kristen and Pablo’s story is reminiscent of a great romance novel. Many people only dream of being swept off to such incredible places with the one you love. Their trip through Hana alone is one full of such unparalleled beauty that it is no wonder why people say Hana is for lovers. The land is unlike any other part of Maui and the Aloha is so bountiful, you could write your own love story here. A story as timeless and wonderful as Kristen and Pablo’s.
From the Bride ~
{We met when} My friend approached Pablo on the tennis court and told him he’d be perfect for me. Turns out she was right! We got engaged last spring in Positano Italy on a hike through the cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean. {When choosing a location} It’s hard to top the beauty of the Amalfi coast in Italy where we got engaged. The only place that made sense to get married was Maui. I’d been once about 8 years ago and fell in love, but Pablo (being from Argentina) had never been to Hawaii. We knew we wanted a private wedding with just the two of us in a beautiful far away place. Maui was at the top of my list and Pablo luckily trusted me. We had a very simple Hawaiian ceremony on a little spot between Ulea and Mokapu beaches at sunset. White dress, flip flops, dress shirts and pants. Marian Milan photographed the actual ceremony, but we also loved Kaua’s style so decided to do an adventure shoot with him in Hana. His style is more photo journalistic, so he captures special moments and details that other photographers might not see. We loved the absolute beauty of Maui – the light of the sunset, the temperature and light breeze, smell of the ocean, and friendly people. We could not have been more at peace. {When planning a destination wedding} Prioritize what’s most important to you – photos, location, size, etc… and start there first. Time and budget are challenges for most brides, so the last thing you want is to not get the perfect flowers (or whatever is most important to you) because you waited too long. Get a local planner, be flexible, but also don’t be afraid to speak up for what you want.
