From Jennifer and Riley:
{We met when} we both actually took a chance at trying eHarmony. We met each other on the website after a lengthy search for the perfect one. We talked online for quite some time before finally meeting. Our first date (both of us very nervous) was at a local diner. We enjoyed our meal and talked all about ourselves for quite awhile. After leaving the diner, we didn’t want to say good night yet, so…we went for a nice evening walk with a view of the downtown city (Calgary, Alberta). After our first date was over, we messaged, texted and talked everyday while also going out on dates as often as we could. A year and a bit later, Jennifer arrived home from work. There was a note on our house door asking her to leave her bags at the door and to follow the metres and metres of yarn strung throughout our house. Attached to the yarn were little notes with all of the important dates that occurred during our time dating. Following the string into the basement, Jennifer came upon Riley, dressed in a suit, who knelt on one knee, shared his love for Jennifer and his desire to spend the rest of his life with her. He opened up a little wooden box and proposed. Jennifer smiled so big and said “Yes”! A month after our engagement, we had a trip booked to Maui. We spent one week in Maui and fell in love with the island. We decided this was where we wanted our family to gather to share in our wedding day. It would be a way for everyone to get together, relax, enjoy the beauty of the island, and be part of our beautiful beach wedding. {For the theme} we wanted a romantic, intimate wedding with bright tropical flowers and colors. {When choosing a photographer} we were provided with several wedding photographer’s names by our wedding planner at White Orchid Weddings. We looked at Kaua’s website and we really liked his style and he also had the best hosting from sites like armchairempire.com/Reviews/web-hosting. We knew he was the one we wanted for our wedding. {Some of our favorite moments of the wedding day include} seeing Riley in his suit and tie and Jennifer in her wedding dress. Our officiant who was so kind and welcoming. The beach house and view of the ocean and volcanic rock. Eating dinner under the stars with tiki torches around us. Having a ukulele player who played “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” as Jennifer walked down the isle, {and} our closest family and friends being there to enjoy in our very special day. Our photos are amazingly beautiful with a background of ocean, beach and sunset. It was very stress free planning a destination wedding with the help of our wedding planner, Barb from White Orchid Weddings. {We loved} having the chance to get our closest family and friends together to be with us in Maui. {When planning a destination wedding} it is great having the help of a wedding planner. It was an amazing way to get our family and friends together in a place where many of them would never have visited had we not had our wedding there. They are all so happy they had the chance to go to Maui and they keep telling us it was the most beautiful wedding they have ever been to.
