The beauty of a destination wedding is that you can chose any place in the world to marry the one you love. From Paris to Dubai, London to Tokyo, Chicago to Sydney… the world is filled with amazing locales. We may be a little biased but there is no place better than the magical valley isle of Maui to start the next chapter in your life. Boasting green mountains, white sandy beaches and lava rock cliffs among its sites, there are no shortage of striking vistas to use as your backdrop. Canadian couple, Erin and Matthew settled on the White Orchid Beach House for their big day, where they celebrated their union with those that were most important to them.
The beach house sits along the ocean with an unobstructed view of Molokini Island, one of the best spots to witness the sun setting down in the pacific. With its manicured lawn and small private beach, it is the perfect place to say I do. Especially if you are wanting something private, away from the inquisitive eyes of strangers that you can find in some locations. It was exactly the way the couple wanted it.
From the beautiful bride…
We decided to go for a small intimate ceremony with just our parents, siblings and our little guy, Parker, who was 13 months at the wedding. We are so happy he got to be apart of our special day. It was perfect. The setting was breathtaking, the weather was wonderful, it rained a little at the beginning but it made for the most beautiful sky backdrop. And everyone said that was good luck!
The design for the day was beyond gorgeous, pale pinks, creams and accents of gold created a such picturesque setting. The couple’s planner, Kendall Higashino, of White Orchid Weddings, did a wonderful job of seeing out the clear vision of what the bride wanted for her wedding day. The floral design by Teresa Sena was delicate and romantic, small arrangements containing white roses, blush ranunculus, snapdragons and dusty miller lined the middle of the dining table.  The lovely, vintage place settings for Set Maui, exquisitely decorated the top. Candles were lit once the sun began to set creating an illuminating scene as guests sipped on beer and wine while enjoy the pupus prepared by Cafe O’Lei with local flare.
I had a definite design vision in my head going into this (I am an interior designer) and Kendall (our planner) executed it perfectly. I have to admit I was a little nervous planning everything through phone calls and emails without ever seeing anything but she really got me and it came out exactly as I imagined, if not better!
We are just gaga over these dainty little place cards crafted by Miss B Calligraphy, they look like pieces of ice. It’s such a unique way to assign a seat and act as a little keepsake for your guests.
Erin’s effortless style was perfect for the Hawaiian environment…
My dress was by Sarah Seven, a designer I had dreamed of wearing on my wedding day. Her designs are made for a beachy, boho style wedding and I loved how the skirt blew in the wind. It made the photos look amazing! And it was incredibly comfortable! I don’t know if many brides can say that! It was actually two pieces, a top and a skirt!
No boho beach bride look is complete without being barefoot to say your vows. Loving the sharp Polo kicks that Matthew is wearing to get hitched!
Final words from the happy wife…
I don’t know what else to say, we seriously could not be happier. I just wish that day never ended. It will be one day we will definitely never forget. We can’t wait to come back to Maui. A very big part of me wants to live there forever 🙂
Another fabulous wedding documented! We are so thrilled to have been apart of it to capture every beautiful moment which it held. Congratulations to Erin, Matthew and Parker, may your young family flourish in love and life! We wish you nothing but happiness for many years to come!
