We had our wedding at the Olowalu Plantation House on 6.16.16 and Kaua already gave us over 200 preview shots. I have just about looked at them over and over about a “gazillion” times now! I LOVE them that much! Even my husband who absolutely abhors being in front of the camera, can’t stop looking at them because they came out that fantastic! As many of the other reviews remarked, Kaua’s fun and kind personality and approach makes you feel very comfortable in front of the camera. Like most every engaged couple, we spent so much time, energy and money into organizing our “big day” that we wanted to make sure that every detail and special moment was captured and saved. What you see in Kaua’s gorgeous portfolio is what you get, images that bring back all those emotions of the day that you don’t ever want to forget that you had with your closest friends and family. We wanted both a photojournalistic and artistic approach so our wedding planner recommended Kaua and she hit the nail right on the head in terms of the total style and feel we were looking for. Kaua is professional, personable and a perfectionist.

We could feel the love and spirit of aloha in the way he worked with us and the way he was able to capture that all on digital “film.” You can tell he has a huge heart for what he does and he will often remark how truly sweet his gig really is, and that comes through. Funny wedding memory that I think helps explain Kaua: so we had the most PERFECT weather after some fairly large swells the days leading up to our wedding day and the waves were just killer at the Olowalu Plantation that day, almost TOO PERFECT- my husband’s little cousin is an avid surfer and was itching to get in the water during our reception because how could anyone pass up those amazing waves, so what did Kaua do? Of course Kaua had his surf board in his car (and with our permission! 🙂 ), he offered his board to my husband’s cousin, and so now we have probably some of the most amazing sunset surfing photos to go in our wedding album, hahaha.

We absolutely LOVED working with Kaua! Not only is his work amazing, he himself is an amazing person to work with. Finding the right photographer you can rely on to capture the essence and beauty of a wedding can be a stressful task for any bride–especially for a destination wedding. But after just a few moments with Kaua, we knew we were in good hands! He works masterfully with angles and lighting to capture moments in the most creative and elegant ways possible. We loved the way he interacted with us and our guests to make us feel comfortable and at ease throughout the entire wedding. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how much they loved our photographer! He captures emotion at its purest and most candid moments, so that when you look back, you can easily relive those precious moments. Kaua definitely helped make our day feel even more special, and we’re so incredibly happy with our choice of using Kaua as our photographer to capture one of the most important days of our lives. There’s no one better than Kaua!

My husband and I have had the pleasure of working with Kaua twice now. He photographed us when we got married in back in 2010, and again this past weekend for a Maternity session to document our expanding family (first child). Kaua is so effortless and easy to work with, and just has a knack for capturing real emotion, in-the-moment happiness. His photos are not always perfect smiles, or cheesy posing, but raw life and love. For those of you considering Kaua for a private session or wedding photography…..he is worth every single penny. When I planned my wedding my first priority was getting the right photographer…..even more so than the perfect dress. Tangible items may come and go, but photos will last a lifetime. Do yourself a favor and book Kaua for any life event, he’s the best of the best.

MAY 30, 2015 was our wedding day, not only that but it was the celebration of our 8 year anniversary with our closest friends and family. Kaua captured so many beautiful pictures and I can feel the feeling I had at that exact moment when I look at them. He captured not only pictures of us but our family/friends drinking and laughing. We enjoyed working with him and he’s so easy going. We can’t wait to see all of the photos!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH KAUA.

I’ve spent the last few days giddy after getting our pictures back from Kaua. The beautiful photos were the icing on the cake that was a great trip, intimate wedding, and beautiful location. Kaua is just the person to have capture your moments. He got shots from places I had never even noticed he was at all through our intimate ceremony never once interrupting things. Then he kept us giggling and smiling the rest of the shoot. He’s a joy to work with and the resulting images are spectacular. Well above any expectations I had. Thanks.

Where do I begin? At first meeting, Kaua is very friendly, calm, and professional. Kaua was on my wedding planner’s list of recommended photographers to work with and once my then fiance and I looked at his website and portfolio we knew instantly we wanted him to be the one to capture our wedding photos on our special day. I have to say, man, did we choose right! Two weeks after our wedding Kaua sent us our images and my husband and I were just amazed and blown away by the quality of images and the moments he so perfectly captured for us. Every picture is amazing, showcasing the love we felt for each other on the day of our wedding. Our pictures came out to be above and beyond our expectations! Kaua is genuinely a nice, lovely person which makes the whole experience that much better. Besides our wedding day photos, we also got to meet Kaua out in Hana for another hour of photography, a couple of days after our wedding. This gave us the opportunity for different types of pictures in different backdrops and overall it was a fun, relaxed day. Our experience with Kaua was exceptional and I would recommend him to anyone who wants a professional and talented photographer to capture their memories on their special day.

This review is coming late, for a specific reason. I wanted to write an honest review about the entire process; from planning to when we received our final wedding album. Kaua and his team were amazing in every way possible. Kaua did the most wonderful job capturing our special day. We were amazed he was able to get all of the images he did. Deciding between the unbelievable amount of final images for our album was pain staking. However Kaua and his team stuck by us and were patient during the entire time. We received our album the other day and were blown away. Truly breath taking! We would recommend Kaua and his team to anyone, and we will!

We planned our Hana wedding based on Kaua photography. We live in Florida and knew we wanted to elope somewhere in Hawaii and after much research, we absolutely fell in love with Hana all thanks to Kaua. Our pictures are stunning and we were so lucky to be photographed with some of the most beautiful backdrops in Maui! Having Kaua as the photographer was icing on the cake. We can’t thank him enough for making our wedding day memorable and we hope to visit Hana, Maui again and again and have him photograph more memories.

We met Kaua when we attended our friend’s wedding in Maui in 2012. We were very impressed by the pictures Kaua took that day. When we started to plan our wedding, Kaua was one of the first few important decisions we made. We feel a good photographer is extremely important, and we chose Kaua because what we see from our friends’ wedding.

Kaua was very accommodating to our schedule, and we found him very easy to work with on our big day. We felt he went above and beyond our expectations. On the wedding day, Kaua came early in the morning to scope out our venue. He did a great job capturing every moment of our wedding day. The pictures he took tell the story of our day. The pictures allow us to share our special day with relatives & friends who were not able to make it to our big day. We are very happy with Kaua, and our plan is to use him again in the future for other important photographer needs.

Kaua did such an amazing job at our wedding I’m beyond words! He was everywhere and captured all the right moments at all the right times. He’s very down to earth and just great to work with. I didn’t feel posed at all and everything just felt so natural – the end results looked that way too. We got almost 200 previews with watermarks within DAYS of the wedding (amazing, who does that?!) and my final product in colour, antique, black and white versions 2 months later. I’m so glad we chose Kaua. Friendly, responsive and professional. Thank you for being awesome, Kaua!
